Following on from the success of the Glasgow Open, you are invited to attend theScotia BJJCup which will take place at the prestigous Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena in Glasgow on the 8th of May 2010. The event will be contested under the standard IBJJF rules.
The event will feature the following divisions for white and blue belt: -
Male -57,5 kg/ -64,0 kg/ – 70,0 kg/ -76,0 kg/ -82,3 kg/ -88,3 kg/ -94,3 kg/ -100,5 kg/ + 100,5 kg
Female -53,5 kg/ – 58,5 kg/ – 64,0 kg/ – 69,0 kg/ + 69,0 kg
Absolute divisions will be available for all belt levels but will be limited to 36 entrants and with a maximum of 4 competitors per academy, note that purple belt and higher weight divisions will be available dependent on entries. Some divisions may also need to be merged but competitors will be notified in advance if this is the case and given the option to move up a weight class or win by default.
The tournament will also see the indiviual weight categories be run on a double elimination basis, losers in each division will go into a repechage bracket to fight off for the bronze medal so all competitors will be guaranteed 2 fights minimum in their weight class. Absolute class will be single elimination until the final round when the top competitor from each absolute bracket squares off in a round robin to crown the Absolute Champion.
There will also be for the first time ever in Scotland the presentation of the Scotia BJJ Cup to the team with the highest points total as per the IBJJF criteria..
